How To Find Minimal Techno Tracks For DJing
By Muxx - January 31st, 2010 - Resources - View CommentsAh minimal, how I love thee.
Minimal is one of those genres which is always full of surprises and really gets you moving on the dance floor. Although it’s been around for quite some time it only seems like recently that it is becoming much more apparent at parties (at least in Florida).
Why is this? I think it’s that it’s a genre which begins to return to the roots of Electronic Music. For a while many tracks were just waaaay too over produced, too many sounds going, too become distracting but that’s where Minimal comes into play.
Minimal strips out all the unnecessary elements of a track and returns you to the core. If you’re a die hard minimal fan or recently exploring the genre you have quite the search ahead of you finding new tracks.
You may have a few websites bookmarked or have read BDJ’s How To Find New Music post but this guide is for all the minimal fans out there. This post will share with you some of the great places online where you can look to find new minimal tracks for DJing.
Minimal Techno On Facebook
Facebook is a great place to find groups focused on just about every type of interest – including minimal techno.
Not only do you get to talk with other fans but with all of the sharing going on, linking to new tracks on YouTube and other music websites, you can spend hours just looking through tunes people are really digging.
Here are a few Minimal Techno Facebook groups I recommend:
When you’re on Facebook, just use the search in the upper right to look for Minimal Techno groups and pages.
Trackpot
This is a rather new website I found and I’m really glad that I did. Trackpot is a website which tracks new releases and popular tracks in just about every electronic music genre.
The lists they provide can be a bit overwhelming as dozens and dozens are added each day but it’s just like digging through crates, it’s always rewarding when you find that one track that really pops off.

Minimal Release Blogs
Now, I’ve mentioned before the importance of buying your music as a DJ but these music release blogs do offer you the ability to check out some of the latest tracks being released.
These sites are regularly updated with massive lists, almost every day, here are some which can point you in the right direction:
*Be a fair player and buy your music!
Minimal YouTube Channels
You didn’t think I could make a music discovery post without mentioning YouTube did you?
It’s kind of funny how hunting for tracks just a few years ago online was such a task but now it seems every track is available on YouTube. Just as I mentioned before, use YouTube to find new tracks but always support the producers by buying them.
A couple channels have an amazing list of minimal videos they’ve uploaded, here are some of my favorite:
There is so much more, just search!
I can’t even begin to tell you how many other sources are available online to find new minimal tracks, the list would just be way to overwhelming.
These 4 sources should give you a really nice heads up and edge for finding the latest tracks to rock your dancefloor.
Even if you’re not spinning minimal, I think it’s worthwhile to check them out to find other tunes as well.
Keep diggin’
