5 Amazing Italo Disco Hits
When Disco died, rock took over… unfortunately.
But for some people, Disco lives on.
In Italy, Disco took off like wildfire. Artists continued to produce Disco even to this day. This particular style of Disco has been coined: Italo Disco.
Italo Disco mixes the disco groove with 80′s synths, creating a unique style of music that really stands out.
Here are 5 amazing Italo Disco hits…
Den Harrow – Broken Radio (Remix)
What happens when space invaders attack the planet Earth? Well, apparently there’s only one way to defeat them: by playing loud dance music. Broken radio has some really awesome lyrics and the ticks in the background really pull the song together.
Charlie – Spacer Woman
Now THIS is a truly great Italo Disco song. Mixing in progressive synth leads with an amazing voice, Charlie – Spacer Woman is one Italo Disco song everyone should have the joy of listening to.
Kano – Ikeya Seki
Kano is my favorite Italo Disco artist. Ikeya Seki is actually one of my top favorite songs of all time in fact. You may know this song through Kavinsky’s song: Grand Canyon. You should listen to how great the original is though.
Pluton & Humanoids – World Invasion
World Invasion by Pluton & Humanoids has one of the best synthed out voice samples ever. The double voice really gives you some chills as the male voice is robotic while the female voice squelches.
Giorgio Moroder – Chase
Probably the most famous Italo Disco hit: Giorgio Moroder – Chase. His name might not ring a bell, but if you ever happen to watch the movie Midnight Express, you know this song. This is the theme from the movie.
Wrap it up!
So, there you have it – 5 amazing Italo Disco hits. As I mentioned in the beginning, it’s not for everyone. When disco “died” it truly lived on and as you’ve heard, it’s amazing. It’s a shame that Italo isn’t played at more parties but it doesn’t exactly fit in to the rest of the line ups.
So, what do you think of the list? Do you have a particular Italo song you love? Let’s hear it!
